Who we are

Physique Canada Sports Federation is the national governing body for physique sports in Canada. We are the soul national affiliate of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF) in Canada.  We abide by all of the by-laws and constitution of the WBPF.  The WBPF is the world governing body for bodybuilding, as is recognized by TAFISA, the Pacific Games Counsel, and has over 70 national affiliates across the globe. WBPF is the only legally registered non-profit international sports federation for the sport of bodybuilding. Physique Canada is proud to be an affiliate and also to sit as a VP on the Executive Council.

Brian Robitaille – President, Secretary, and Chief Doping Control Officer

Brian RobitailleBrian Robitaille has the highest respect among his peers in Canadian bodybuilding. Brian Robitaille began his competitive career in 1992 and retired after winning two national-level titles and representing Canada at the World Championships in 2000. He has been a physique judge for more than 15 years and has also been an extremely successful competition promoter.

Brian is also an expert on organization structure, competition structure, and proper protocols for doping control. According to Brian, his biggest achievement was developing the best drug-testing program in bodybuilding today. Brian's competitive background combined with his wealth of experience and ingenuity makes him the ideal person to lead Canada's newest men's and women's physique organization.

Doug Schneider – Chairman of the Board, Media Relations, and Marketing Director

Doug SchneiderDoug has been extensively involved in the fitness industry for more than 10 years and has photographed more bodybuilding competitions in that time than any other photographer in Canada. Doug is also the publisher of www.SeriousAboutMuscle.com and has contributed to many of the industry's leading publications such as MuscleMag and Inside Fitness. He has also successfully promoted many of Canada's best-known physique competitors and was the founder of Canada's only all-women's fitness organization, Serious About Fitness (SAF, www.SeriousAboutFitness.com), which he still runs today. 

Doug's background in the fitness industry plus his expertise and education in business and marketing make him the ideal marketing director to put Physique Canada's unique vision into practice. Doug's plan is for Physique Canada to make use of all forms of media in order to promote its message and its competitors, with the goal to become the nation's top physique organization within two years.

International Affiliation

Physique Canada is affiliated with the WBPF (World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation). Our top athletes can represent Canada at the Mr. Universe contest that brings together over 90 countries.

  • Competitors must qualify by placing top three in a Tier 2 event and must maintain a valid membership for year-round in- and out-of-competition drug testing.

  • Competitors must have placed top three in Tier 3 or have strong competitive experience and/or have placed in another organization. All Tier 2 competitions subject to drug testing.

  • For brand-new competitors or those who have not placed in Physique Canada Tier 3 or in another organization. All Tier 3 competitions subject to drug testing.

  • Over Age 40
  • Resides outside the tier system. Competitors can compete in Masters even if they are competing in Tier 1, 2, or 3 classes. All Masters competitions subject to drug testing.
